Your character is Thyatian, descended from settlers who came to Karameikos for land, wealth and opportunity. Thyatians tend to be wealthier than Traladarans and tend to reside in the cities and large towns such as Kelvin, Threshold and the bustling trade city of Specularum.
Most of the nobles in Karameikos are of Thyatian descent, although they compose a sizable portion of the commoner population as well. Due to centuries of interbreeding with other nations, there is no one distinctive Thyatian look.
The Empire of Thyatis is a large, flourishing empire with powerful armies, a booming economy, lavish arts and entertainments and a cultural standard equalled in few places in the world. So, it is natural that many Karameikans of Thyatian descent tend to feel superior to the native Traladarans, and view them as ignorant and naive.
As a young adventurer, it is possible that your family participated in the borrowed traditional Traladaran practice of the Shearing ceremony. Many Thyatians have adopted the practice as a way of separating the worthwhile from the parasitic in their families. When a youth approaches adulthood, the bottom of his cloak is 'sheared' off leaving the appearance of an impoverished traveller and is sent off into the world to live apart from his clan. He must then demonstrate that he is worthy of the clan by prospering on his own, and then he is invited back into the family with much celebration.
Naming your character
When it comes to names, traditional Thyatians have names of a classic Roman flavor., such as(male) Alexander, Claudius, and Anastasius or (female) Alexandra, Claudia and Anastasia. However, modern Thyatian parents have been known to be creative in naming their children, either inventing the name or picking the name from another culture.
